OUTCOME
The creative director was impressed with my ability to match the noosa illustration style so closely and quickly. This helped me complete the website layouts with even greater efficiency. The programmer and I coordinated as I delivered the assets needed to complete the desktop and mobile sizes of the website in time for their next meeting.
The Process
Masthead
When I first arrived at VaynerMedia's satelite office in Denver, I sat down with the creative director and went over all the outstanding pages that needed to be completed. I made sure to share my progress early in the process to confirm I was heading in the right direction. The creative director was very happy with how well my illustrations matched the other art produced for the brand and with some minor tweaks I was well on my way to completing the website layouts.
Working with the programmer I exported the assets needed for desktop and mobile in order to complete the web pages. I was also tasked with designing a version of the top nav that was not as tall so more content could fill the screen in desktop view once users start to scroll down (pictured below).
Magazine Layouts
In order to keep up with the regular work still coming in while producing the magazine we outsourced designing the first few drafts of the interior spreads of the magazine to a freelancer who based their layouts on a few spreads I mocked up. Additionally, I created a design guide to help further direct the look of the magazine.
Cover Photo
I art directed the photoshoot for the cover of the magazine with CU Students and working with one of our talented CU campus photographers. We timed the shoot with the sun setting behind the Flatiron mountains, capturing the beauty of the campus and the aspirational and forward looking vibe Leeds School of Business embodies.
Finishing Touches
Once the freelancer had a solid start I was given the creative files to make any final changes before printing. We carefully checked over each spread coming off the press and color corrected when necessary to make sure the final product would have the best colors possible.
