De-coding a Brand from the Ground Up
Allied Code provides programming services to companies and reached out to me for a brand identity. I started by researching coding symbols that could be used as the brand mark. After lots of sketching I presented the chosen mark shown here along with other options on the next page. The owners were excited with all the choices and really loved
their top pick, it was a fun project with great results.
Mission
Create a brand from scratch for this programming company that was just getting started.
Outcome
I researched other similar companies before starting on sketches and ideas for the brand mark, look and feel. I presented several options and the mark shown on this page rose to the top. I then worked on the color palette and typography set keeping in mind that they were hoping red would be a part
of their brand.
Impact
The client was really happy with the final brand look and was able to launch their company with confidence.

The Process
The sketches and alternate Allied Code brand mark options shown below
are a peak into my process.
After learning about the company from the owners and completing competitive research I was able to start sketching brand mark ideas. I took my top sketches onto the computer to see if they still worked well in the more refined vectorized form.
Additionally, when researching the word “Allied” I discovered that bee’s are also known as allied insects for the way they work together. This lead me to include a few options with a bee form incorporated into the mark.
I took my top options and created a first round presentation to share with the owners for feedback, discussion and selection of their top mark to move forward into phase two of crafting the brand. I then finalized the color palette, typography and finessed the brand mark to be geometrically sound.
